1. The bandage should be left on for a minimum of 4 (four) hours (no longer than 12 hours). Do not remove the bandage until you are ready to wash the tattoo.
2. After removing the bandage, immediately wash the tattoo using and antibacterial soap. Using lukewarm water and your fingers (not a washcloth), wash the tattoo 4 to 5 times to remove any of the ointment & body fluids. The tattoo will feel slimy at first. Continue washing it until it is no longer slimy in feeling. Wash your tattoo 3 to 4 times daily for the rest of the healing period.
3. Pat the tattoo dry using a soft clean towel (do not scrub)
4. Always allow the tattoo to air dry for an additional 15 minutes before applying any ointment.
5. Using your fingertips, apply a “super thin film” of antibiotic ointment or “Tattoo Goo” (brand) or Protat Aftercare products. It is very important that you put the ointment as “THIN AS POSSIBLE”. If you put it on too thick, it will draw the ink out of the skin, therefore it has to be put on the skin just enough to keep the SKIN MOIST, NOT GREASY. Re-apply as necessary to keep the skin from drying out.
6. You might experience a bit of oozing for the first few days. If the tattoo oozes, wash & dry it immediately as described above, then reapply the ointment.
7. The tattoo will begin to peal in 2 to 4 days. When this happens, DO NOT PICK AT IT! Let the peeling fall off naturally.
8. HOT-TUBS, SAUNAS, AND SWIMMING POOLS are NOT ALLOWED for 2 (two) weeks.
9. Avoid direct sunlight on the tattoo for 2 (two) weeks. This includes tanning booths.
10. If at all possible, keep clothing off of your tattoo for 2 (two) weeks
11. Don’t shave over the tattoo for 2 (two) weeks
12. Your tattoo should finish peeling in 7 to 10 days. When the tattoo is done peeling, quit using the ointment, and use a HAND LOTION for 1 (ONE) additional week.
